高校生10名が模擬国連大阪（Osaka Model United Nations）に参加しました！

On July 8th and 13th, 10 of our students participated in the 9th annual Osaka Model United Nations hosted by Kansai International High School. The topic was “The Global Water Crisis” with a focus on “water scarcity” and “water related disasters.” Over the course of the project, the students wrote out clauses from the perspectives of their assigned countries to try and create solutions for this problem.
If you would like more information about Model United Nations, I have included the explanation below. I hope to increase the number of students joining in future years, especially since they are wonderful for using English as a mode of communicating about world problems. Thank you to all the teachers and staff who supported us this year and in future events!

8月8日と13日、関西国際高校が主催する第9回大阪模擬国連に本校生徒10名が参加しました。トピックは “The Global Water Crisis (世界の水をめぐる危機) “で、“Water Scarcity (水不足) “と “Water Related Disasters (水災害)“に焦点を当てたものでした。生徒たちは、この問題に対する解決策を考えようと、割り当てられた国の視点から条項を書き出しました。

模擬国連とは参加者が実際の国連総会のシミュレーションを行うことによって、国連や国際政治のシステム、また国際問題や外交について学習する目的で行われる大会です。参加者は国連加盟国の代表者として会議に参加し、議題にあがっている国際問題を改善／解決する為に国際社会が何をすべきかそれぞれの担当国の立場を踏まえた上で議論します。最終目標としては全体の3分の2以上の国が賛成できる決議案を採択することです。

模擬国連大阪では議事進行やスピーチ・議論は全て基本的には英語で行われます。参加者は大会を通して英語を使う機会を得るだけでなく、説得力のあるプレゼンテーション、コンセンサスの作りかたなど多くを学びます。模擬国連は、世界的な問題について英語を用いてコミュニケーショ ンをとる素晴らしい活動なので、今後も多くの生徒に参加してもらいたいと思います。大会運営，参加への支援をいただいた皆様に感謝申し上げます。
